The types of funding available fall into three categories :
We would like to support organisations where our contributions ‘make a difference’. At The Mickel Fund we prefer to support local activities, although we will consider worldwide appeal based projects.
To be considered for Major Donations you must be a Charity or Organisation in Scotland or considered a Homeless Charity.
Although we try to help, as many charities as we can with our Major Donations there are
some situations in which The Mickel Fund is
NOT ABLE to make a donation, these are as
follows:
- Events such as conferences, seminars and exhibitions
- Fee charging residential home, nurseries and care facilities
- Fund-raising events
- Individuals - other than through the hardship fund
- Loans or repayments of loans - other than through the hardship fund
- Religious Promotion
- Replacement of Statutory Funds
- Schools other than pre school and after school clubs and activities promoting parental and community involvement

For those charities looking towards Annual Donations, The Mickel Fund will donate £100 - £2,000 per year to the chosen national charity, with the view of being updated and reassessed annually. The Annual Donation can be donated to both long-term supported charities and/or newly assessed charities.
The Mickel Fund is approached by a large number of charities each year. The Annual Donation option is available for national charities, such as:
- Cancer Research
- Blindness
- Autism
- Age Concern
Due to the high volume of applications which the Mickel Fund receives, we are only able to make donations to
ONE CHARITY PER CATEGORY ANNUALLY.
The Annual Donation is available to charities UK wide, however we give priority to supporting Scottish based projects. If you wish to re-apply for Annual Donation you must complete the checklist questions and attach the additional information to allow the Mickel Fund to make an informed decision.
